Princess Cruise Review: on a recent cruise to Alaska by
Davisville Travel agent Linda Smith and her husband.
Davisville outside sales agent Linda Smith and her husband
recently returned from a week-long cruise of the Inside
Passage to Alaska on the Coral Princess. After flying to
Seattle, they took the Princess bus to Vancouver, B.C. for
embarkation. The Coral Princess' voyage took them from
Vancouver to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay (the
Coral Princess is one of a few ships allowed to enter the
bay for an up-close and personal view of its many glaciers),
College Fjord and Prince William Sound, and finally to the
port at Whittier, an hour's bus ride from Anchorage.

Along the way, they took half-day excursions that included
wildlife viewing on land and sea, visits to native peoples'
cultural sites, Mendenhall Glacier, a trip on the White Pass
railway to the Canadian border, and even snorkeling (yes, in
Alaska). On the trip they saw humpback whales, Dall's
porpoises and mountain sheep, bald eagles, killer whales and
bears (oh my).

Linda was impressed by the total cruise experience on the
Coral Princess, where she was treated like royalty. Fabulous
food, great service, flawless timing on the excursions, all
despite the fact that this was the first Alaska cruise of
the season. Her husband found his first cruise to be the
perfect way to experience the rugged majesty of
Alaska, whether on excursions or from their balcony cabin or
the ship's numerous observation decks and facilities.
"Personal Choice" dining provided the flexibility they
wanted in terms of working around excursion schedules and
providing a variety of dining experiences-from the
multi-course dinners in the main dining rooms where you
could meet a different set of fellow passengers at each
meal, to the panoramic views of the buffet on deck 14, to
the more casual pizza bar and the hamburger/hotdog grill
near the promenade and pool decks. Add in the live musical
variety shows and movies, special speakers brought on board
and movies (and even a casino) and the Coral Princess cruise
was the perfect escape of everyday life. They are ready to
cruise again.
